Recently, the 13th Five-Year Plan Development Seminar of the Explosion-Proof Motor Industry hosted by the China Coal Machinery Industry Association was held in Fushun, Liaoning. The seminar summarized the progress and development deficiencies of the explosion-proof motor industry in China during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, and also laid out the development of the explosion-proof motor industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. At present, China is a leading producer of explosion-proof motors, and the product quality is on par with similar international products, and some are close to the international advanced level, which is expected to reach the international advanced level by the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

Industry status

The motor industry is a traditional industry and a basic industry of the national economy. Explosion-proof motors are special motors developed in the early 1970s to meet the development needs of my country's coal and petrochemical industries. They are the main power equipment used in fans, water pumps, compressors, and machine tools in the above industries.

In recent years, with the rapid development of China's economy, the demand for explosion-proof motors in the petrochemical and coal industries has increased, which has also promoted the development of my country's explosion-proof motor industry, and the total number of explosion-proof motor companies is on the rise. According to statistics, there are more than 100 explosion-proof motor manufacturing companies in the country, and 77 members of the Explosion-proof Motor Association. Most of these companies not only produce explosion-proof motor products, but also ordinary motor products. Coal mine professional motor manufacturers account for about 15%.

The rapidly developing economy has a growing demand for energy, which has significantly improved the operating conditions of the coal, oil and chemical industries. At the same time, the coal, oil and chemical industries pay more and more attention to production safety and production efficiency, and the demand for explosion-proof motors is on the rise.

This year, the operating efficiency of the main users of the explosion-proof motor industry is generally poor, resulting in shrinking market demand for the entire explosion-proof motor industry, fierce industry competition, continued decline in comprehensive economic benefits, and increased operating pressure.

According to the statistical data of 22 industry enterprises participating in the survey, the output of explosion-proof motors in the first half of the year declined slightly compared with the same period last year, with orders and sales falling by 13% and 8.7% respectively; finished product inventory increased significantly; the volume and price of explosion-proof motor products fell, resulting in a significant decline in the sales value of explosion-proof motors; due to the decline in production and sales scale, while costs and expenses continued to increase, profits fell sharply. The overall operating quality of the industry economy declined year-on-year.

In the first half of the year, the total output of the industry was 28.92 million kW, a decrease of 2.61 million kW from the same period last year, a decrease of 8.3%; the output of explosion-proof motors was 5.42 million kW, a decrease of 1.20 million kW year-on-year, a decrease of 18.1%; the output of high-voltage explosion-proof motors was 2.59 million kW, a decrease of 450,000 kW year-on-year, a decrease of 14.9%; the output of low-voltage explosion-proof motors was 2.32 million kW, a decrease of 560,000 kW year-on-year, a decrease of 24.3%; the sales volume of explosion-proof motors was 5.35 million kW, a decrease of 1.37 million kW year-on-year, a decrease of 20.4%; the cumulative orders for explosion-proof motors were 4.46 million kW, a decrease of 1.23 million kW year-on-year, a decrease of 21.5%.

In the first half of the year, the sales revenue of motor products was 5.25 billion yuan, a decrease of 770 million yuan, or 12.9%, year-on-year; the sales output value of explosion-proof motors of industry enterprises in the first half of 2015 was 5.34 billion yuan, a decrease of 730 million yuan year-on-year. The market performance of the explosion-proof motor industry was worse than that of the electric motor industry.

At present, the annual demand for explosion-proof motors in my country is about 20 million kW, of which high-voltage explosion-proof motors are about 7 million kW, accounting for 28% of the annual demand for explosion-proof motors; the explosion-proof motor industry market is polarized, with a high concentration of large motors and a low concentration of small and medium-sized motors, and fierce competition. Enterprises lack R&D capabilities, have low product technology content, and poor competitiveness. In the past two years, some enterprises have been in a state of suspension or semi-suspension. Industry enterprises have entered a reshuffle stage.

From the statistics of industry products, the output of flameproof low-voltage motors accounts for 86% of the entire explosion-proof motor market, and the efficiency of its products meets the 3rd level energy efficiency of GB18613 energy efficiency standard. It meets the requirements of the current standards. According to the provisions of the national energy efficiency standard GB18613, the efficiency index of motors must meet the requirements of 2nd level energy efficiency in July 2016.

At present, the explosion-proof motor branch has organized the backbone of the industry to complete the development of the YBX3 series products, which have passed the industry appraisal and are in the digestion and production stage. By then, it will replace the YB3 series flameproof three-phase asynchronous motors and meet the requirements of energy conservation, emission reduction and green environmental protection. Among the flameproof motors, there are also various types of coal mine special motors produced by the coal mine motor industry.

Development is expected

After decades of production practice, China's explosion-proof motor industry has matured in all processes from technical design to production and manufacturing, especially the technical design level, which has reached the level of similar foreign products, and has the ability to develop various explosion-proof motors. The manufacturing process of products is also constantly improving.

At present, the main factor affecting the quality of small and medium-sized motor products in my country is the unstable performance of raw materials, especially the large quality differences of silicon steel sheets. In addition, the general investment in motor technology transformation is small, the proportion of general equipment for parts processing is large, and the low precision is also one of the reasons affecting the quality of motors. In addition, the overall manufacturing process level of the industry is still behind the advanced level abroad. Solving the above problems requires not only the efforts of the explosion-proof motor industry, but also the strong support of other supporting industries.

As my country's explosion-proof electrical appliance manufacturers pay more and more attention to product quality and strictly control quality, the product quality level of explosion-proof electrical appliances has been continuously improved, which has effectively led to a rapid improvement in the safety situation in the coal mine and petrochemical industries. The main result is that mass casualties and mass injuries have been greatly reduced, and the safety situation continues to develop in a positive direction.

During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, research on the scope of the explosion-proof motor industry and its investment opportunities has become a hot topic. In the future, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, there is great potential for the development of my country's explosion-proof motor industry."
